DMOZ has been around since 1998 in various names, and with various owners from Netscape to AOL (remember them), in fact 1998 was also the year that Google was born and with it the seeds of DMOZ's demise, in fact the only real surprise is that it lasted as long as it did.
I have fond (well probably not really) of navigating through the various sections to find the adult section, then the escorts, then the location/town, or was it the other way round, town, adults, section I really can not remember but I know it was a journey each time and then only to rely on the good nature or the industrious of what you hoped was an unbiased editor. Now its just a machine deciding, and of course in the case of Facebook their algorithms deciding that anything that resembles cleavage warrants an immediate ban. Happy days!
Anyway that's it, in terms of relevance it probably means little, as a little bit of history as a place that was actually non judgemental on the escort industry in terms of listings it probably should be remembered.
We all stand on the shoulders of what has gone before us.
